IF FALL WERE OURS

September rolls around and suddenly our feeds look different. Burgundy knits, brown suede, plaid skirts, trench coats, boots—the internet has officially entered fall.

Meanwhile, the weather in the Philippines has other plans.

Instead of falling leaves and cooler days, we get humidity, sudden rain, and a forecast that rarely calls for a coat. So rather than just admiring the season from afar, borrow the best parts and make them work here.

If fall were ours, this is how we’d wear it.

The look: Sleeveless knit top + tailored trousers
Fall cue: Knit texture + earthy tones
PH switch: Sleeveless and breathable

A sleeveless knit gives you sweater-season texture without committing to sleeves you’ll regret by noon. Add tailored trousers in khaki and you have just enough of the fall formula for a very non-fall forecast.

Nothing shifts a wardrobe into fall territory faster than brown. Skip the heavy layers and go straight for a streamlined dress in dark espresso. Sometimes the color is enough.

Consider it plaid at a lower volume. Fine grid lines give you the graphic effect of a classic check, only cleaner and easier to wear. A small nod to the season rather than the full uniform.

Here, a cardigan isn’t necessarily something you wear outdoors all day—it’s what you reach for when the office AC starts feeling suspiciously like November. Wear it open over a sleeveless top and skirt, then lose the layer once you step outside.

For days when black feels too obvious, there’s maroon. It has the same depth, but with a little more warmth—and on a clean dress silhouette, it needs very little else.

Utility dressing doesn’t have to mean heavy-duty. A zip-front top and tonal trousers keep the clean, functional feel, while lighter fabrics make the combination far more realistic for a Manila afternoon.

PH switch: Autumn olive, tropical weight

Olive brings the season in without adding another layer. On a fluid pleated midi, the shade feels distinctly fall while the movement keeps it easy enough for warm days.

Maybe Philippine fall isn’t about coats, scarves, or watching the leaves change. It’s espresso brown and deep maroon, knits without sleeves, lighter checks, and a cardigan reserved for aggressively cold air-conditioning.

We may not get the weather, but we can still have the wardrobe. No falling leaves required.
