WHERE IT BEGINS

Nothing begins entirely from scratch.

Every design carries something with it. A technique learned over time. A shape we return to. A detail worth looking at again.

Past Forward starts there, revisiting elements of dress that have endured and finding new ways to work with them. Lace meets cleaner lines. Eyelet becomes the focus rather than the accent. Classic shapes are altered through print, proportion, texture, and construction.

It is less about looking back than deciding what is worth bringing with us.

PRINT STUDY
Florals take on a different character through color and proportion. A fresher palette and streamlined shape pull the print away from overt romance, giving a familiar motif a cleaner, more contemporary point of view.

MIXED MATERIALS
A minimalist bodice keeps the focus on the floral skirt below. The contrast is simple but deliberate, bringing together restraint and expression without asking either to compete.

LAYERED CONSTRUCTION
Knit texture meets the crispness of a blouse in a single piece. By building the layers directly into the design, a familiar styling combination becomes part of the garment itself. What once required two pieces now works as one.

PANEL BY PANEL
Contrast panels redraw the lines of a classic A-line. Their placement adds dimension and definition, giving a familiar shape a sharper, more graphic finish.

CUT & FOLD
Color-blocking gives it presence. Pleats give it movement. The balance of clean lines and flowing folds means the dress never looks quite the same standing still as it does in motion.

FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION
Utility dressing is pared back to its essentials. Purposeful details and clean construction lend structure to the piece, bringing a practical influence into something softer and easier to wear.

DRAWN TO SHAPE
A zip changes the pace. A drawstring changes the silhouette. More than functional additions, these details allow the wearer to adjust the shape and make the piece her own.

OPENWORK
Eyelet takes over the entire surface, allowing the embroidery itself to define the dress. Pattern, texture, and small glimpses of skin create depth without the need for added embellishment.

BORDER WORK
Here, the detail sits at the edge. Eyelet embroidery traces the hem, drawing the eye downward and adding interest as the dress moves. It is subtle from afar and intricate up close.

THE FINISHING TOUCH
Lace frames the clean A-line shape, softening its structure without overwhelming it. Delicate but deliberate, the trim shows how a small finishing detail can change the character of an entire piece.

Past Forward is built on the idea that good design rarely disappears. It gets revisited, adjusted, and seen differently.

The techniques may have history. The shapes may feel familiar. But what matters is what we choose to do with them next.

Past Forward.

The story continues, one thread at a time.
