FIELD DIARIES
When do you feel most alive? When do you truly feel peaceful and fulfilled?
For many of us, these moments happen when we are completely immersed in nature. The sounds, scent and sights fill our senses; we take a breath, and all feels right with the world. While these moments may be a regular occurrence for who are fortunate enough, they can be a rare treat for others. No matter how often (or rarely) we actually get to appreciate it, there seems to be a universal longing to go out and soak in the natural world.
How does being outside in nature make you feel?
Imagine lying in a soft green grass, watching wispy white clouds drift across a cornflower blue sky. Or transport yourself to an old-growth forest, surrounded by gnarly old trees covered in lush green moss. Inhale the earthy, piney scent, wander through the dappled light and delight in hearing sweet birdsong from above.
Does nature stimulate your senses or bring you a sense of calm? When we appreciate our oneness with nature, we can begin to fully embrace our part in its magnificence.
